Figure is solid but with its flaws, April 12, 2014

The sculpt and articulation is solid. The flaws come from trying to pose her. Black Widow has the same flaw as Black Cat from the Spiderman line, the feet. Granted Black Widow is no where as bad as Black Cats high heels but unless you have a stand simple poses such as her on one knee with her arms straight forward holding guns she becomes side heavy and falls. Standing straight up though Black Widow stands fine.

Also, the hefty price tag Black Widow is going for on here, E-Bay and other collectors forums is simply uncalled for. Black Widow is worth 20 bucks, no more no less. She is also being re-released in June with a heavier stock so wait and don’t give these scalpers charging more than 20 bucks your money. She is only “rare” due to “collectors” buying her in bulk when she is on the shelves. Simply uncalled for.

Why is this the rarest figure? Oh, yeah… it’s a “girl’s toy”., April 21, 2014

    First, about the figure.

It’s a really nice sculpt for the most part, and I love the fact that it has the interchangable heads (Shorter hair from THE AVENGERS, longer hair as in THE WINTER SOLDIER), which is something that has been sadly absent from the previous Black Widow figures, not only from the original (and far better) Marvel Legends line from Toy Biz, but also the Marvel Select figures, which are little more than barely-posable statues than “action figures”. Of course, the articulation is the standard sub-standard work that Hasbro has been putting into these figures since they took over the Marvel Legends line. Sure it’s cool that they’ve been introducing more obscure characters, but let’s at least have some better quality in their movement and articulation. It really does feel that if you bend or twist an articulation point, they might break, which was NEVER a problem with the Toy Biz line. But that’s old news. Let’s cover the new news, which is more dismaying.

When THE AVENGERS came out, Hasbro released a full line-up 6″ figures of all the characters from the film. Iron Man, Hulk, Cap, Hawkeye, Thor, and even Loki. But… no Black Widow. Why? She has more screen time than Hawkeye and Hulk combined. Here’s where we enter into the “It’s a boy’s/man’s world” of action figures. I don’t know if the studios have checked lately, but there are some pretty strong and successful female action heroes out there that are the leads in their own films; look to Katniss Everdeen or Shailene Woodley’s character in DIVERGENT. GIRLS BUY TOYS. They like to have strong characters that they can identify with and to look up to, and they like action figures. So then, why is it still so damn hard for Hasbro and Marvel to put out the same number of Black Widow figures as they do Cap or Winter Soldier figures? I know there’s a lot of the 3-3/4″ figures that are female characters. Hell, even Gamora from the upcoming GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY film has her own 6″ figure coming out that isn’t a chase figure. This doesn’t bother me nearly as much as the “Slave Leia” figure as the first female figure to come out of the 6″ STAR WARS “Black Series” figures (and you can see my review of that figure on that page), but it’s still problematic as it amplifies the false narrative of pop culture toys that they’re not for people with lady parts.

Nevertheless, it’s still a good figure and I’m glad I found it cheaper than it is here.

Black Widow aka Natasha Romanoff, March 11, 2014
    Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Captain America Marvel Legends Black Widow Figure 6 Inches (Toy)
This is a great figure of Black Widow, or Agent Natasha Romanoff as seen in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It’s great to finally have a Marvel Legends movie Black Widow figure. The sculpting and painting of the figure are very nice. The two heads have quite a good resemblance to Scarlett Johansson. It stands at about 6 inches tall.

    Accessories:
    -Long-haired head (CA:TWS)
    -Short-haired head (Avengers)
    -Pair of open-palm hands
    -Pair of weapon holding hands
-Torso and shoulder cannon for the build-a-figure Mandroid
Its great that they included heads for both her Winter Soldier and Avengers look. Unfortunately the pistols are sculpted on to the holsters so they cannot be removed. You can still give her other pistols that you might have. And when the BAF Mandroid is complete, its also a nice looking figure and stands at 7.5 inches tall.

Articulation: Ball-jointed head and torso; ball-hinge shoulders and elbows; swivel wrists and thighs; hips hinge out, in, forward and backwards; double-hinge knees; ankles hinge and roll side-to-side. Lots of articulation that allow for many poses.

Overall, its a great figure with great pose-ability and accessories that give you options for displaying her.
